Places to visit and things to do in Dapoli
Dapoli is situated in the heart of Ratnaigiri district, Maharashtra. It has a seaboard of around 50 km which is densely covered by coconut farms. The place has a cool climate throughout the year. The beaches are one of a kind with black sands. It also has many historic forts and temples. It is one of the best weekend destinations from Mumbai to enjoy beach life.
Best time to visit Dapoli is from October to March in winters when climates are cool and mostly you can avoid getting tanned.
How to reach Dapoli
From Mumbai it’s around 230 km, if you go by car then it lies on the National Highway 17 (NH 17) that connects Mumbai- Goa. Regular buses also ply from Mumbai to Dapoli. The nearest airport is Ratnagiri airport.
My Travelogue
We booked zoom car from Mumbai for our trip to Dapoli (make sure to book before two weeks, weekends especially monsoon’s in Mumbai can be very packed). We were supposed to start early in the morning at 5 am to avoid the traffic (but some of us had a bit of lazy start ). So we started at around 7 am from Mumbai International airport and took the rushed JVLR road and then finally Pune Mumbai expressway. We stopped for breakfast on the way near to Imagica, we had nice chole bhature and dosa.

Finally, the actual journey started when we took a turn towards Khopoli-Pali road and finally join onto NH 66, after a long journey of 7 hours we finally reached our destination at 2.30 pm.

The saying “The journey is the destination” by Dan Eldon does justice to the road trip from Mumbai to Dapoli.
We had booked Parijat Holiday home from booking.com, it cost us Rs 4600 (for 5 people). We were warmly welcomed and shown around by our caretaker Mr. Shinde and his wife. They had a son around 7 years old, very naughty (took the chocolates we offered but didn’t let us shake his hand ). Fresh home-cooked lunch both veg and non-veg were prepared for us and the food was really good, the chicken was very yummy. The food served was in Konkani style. The view from the balcony was very serene.

The place was so calm we could hear the insects making noises. We had fun by sharing ghost stories and scaring the crap out of each other. We had dinner prepared for us and after the long day, we had all I could see was the warm bed made for us.

Next morning we woke up early so we could see some of the tourist places nearby. We had our breakfast and then we went to the Murud beach, it’s a black sand beach bit unclean but okay. On our way back we saw the nice waterfall crossing the road. We had nice fish for lunch in the dhabas on our way back. Finally, the journey ended back at Mumbai airport.

Some other tourist attractions in Dapoli
1.Ladghar Beach
2.Karde Beach
3.Ganesh temple, Anjarle
Total trip cost 3500-4000 per head for a group of 5 people.
Live the experience through your words..
