Backpackers Inn Mcleodganj

On our recent trip to Dharamshala since we were on a tight budget, we were looking for a budget place to stay for a night and we stumbled upon Backpackers Inn in Mcleodganj. It is a budget hotel cum hostel with amazing views.

Backpackers Inn is located in Jogiwara Rd, Mcleodganj overlooking the views of Dhauladhar mountain range. It is around 4 kilometers from Dharamshala bus stop. It cost us 300 bucks to reach there.

The view from the reception

We reached Backpackers Inn around 5 am in the morning and we had to climb a hell lot of stairs to reach. We had not informed them about early check-in so we faced problems with it. Firstly the reception desk was hard to find as it isn’t on the ground floor.  We waited for some time and then this foreigner girl came and she directed us to the terrace where the reception desk is present. Finally, we went there and the cook was only present, he tried calling the manager but his phone was not reachable. So we just sat on the sofa there. At around 7 am we got our room in another building and they also helped us to carry our luggage.

That is when we saw the amazing view from the terrace with the rooftop restaurant. The snow-capped mountains, the green scenery it just made our day. All the trouble caused during the check-in just vanished into the beauty of the place.

Our room was in another building and it also had a balcony with an amazing view. The room had all the basic amenities one could hope for in this budget. The mattress and blankets were very cozy and the room was big, well-spaced with lockers and drawers. The bathroom was clean along with the water heater. Free wifi was also available.

They have an in house restaurant and we had breakfast and dinner there. We had allu gobi paratha with pickle and curd and also omelet for breakfast. The food was amazing, warm and prepared right in front of us. For dinner, we had chappati and rajma. The price of food was completely affordable and the view was a bonus.

Extra facilities

They arranged a sightseeing cab for us for Rs1600 and we saw all the spots including the Monasteries. To read my travelogue of Dharamshala click on this link.
