On our recent Backpacking trip to Manali, we were travelling on a shoestring budget. After a lot of research, we decided to stay at Moustache Manali for one day. From the pictures in Make my trip, the hostel seemed cosy and amazing. Our excitement was at its height, Manali in March was going to be a treat.
Moustache Manali is located near the Clubhouse Manali, in front of the Old Manali Bridge in Old Manali. It is around 2.5 km from the Manali bus stop. It is very accessible as it is on the main road itself.
We were travelling by bus from Chandigarh. Our bus dropped us before Manali as landslide had occurred. We took a shared cab and the journey to the hostel was mesmerizing. Just yesterday snowfall had occurred. We could see snow on the roofs of houses, cars parked even on trees.
After the long ride of around an hour, we finally reached. Our host gave us a warm welcome. He was kind enough to help us with our luggage and dropped our bags at our room. They also checked our ID cards. The whole process was hassle-free and very nicely done.
Our room was on the second floor with a common balcony. After climbing up the stairs the view from the balcony was breathtaking. The snow-capped mountains, pine trees and the clear blue sky all I wanted was a cup of tea.
The room was spacious with attached washroom. It also had a geyser with hot water available full time. Two blankets were also given to us. We inquired about the heater and they told us about the heating sessions in the evenings.
We had opted for a private room. But there were also Mixed and Female Dormitories available. They offered all the basic amenities. We had booked the room for Rs 1400 and it was totally worth it.
The private rooms were available at Rs 1400(booked from MMT). Dorm rooms cost around Rs 600. It is the best price one could hope for with all the facilities.
Cleanliness and hygiene
You will feel completely at home. Apart from the room, the surrounding area was also properly maintained and clean. The staffs were very professional.
In house Restaurant
They have an in house restaurant named “THE BACKYARD KITCHEN”. The menu includes Indian, Italian and Israeli cuisines. The food is well served, yummy and will remind you of your mother.
They can also arrange for treks to Jogini falls and Bhrigu Lake. Many activities like Paragliding and Rock climbing are offered by them all you need is to ask at the reception desk. For all details, you can follow their website.
The Club House Manali is at walkable distance. There are many cafes and hangout places nearby. The river Manaslu flows just in front of the hostel. Enjoy the view and have hot Maggie and tea.
I hope you found this information useful and decide to stay here. It is a good place to stay with your friends.
