On our recent trip to Manali, we decided to stay in a hostel having private rooms so we could have our privacy and also meet other travellers. After a lot of research, we found the House of Amigos which seemed like the best fit for us.
House of Amigos is located near Oak Land House, Old Manali in Manali. It is around 3 km from Manali bus stop. After being dropped off at the road we had to walk around half km to reach the hostel.
We reach the hostel at around 8.30 am after the long bus journey from Dharamshala. The weather was cool and the sun was shining, lighting up the whole place. Our host gave us a warm welcome. She was very nice and completed all the formalities quickly. Our bags were very heavy and she helped us carrying them to our room.
To my surprise the room had a board saying 2 and a half men. Then I found out all the rooms were named after top TV series and movies. I was very excited, it was a good unique concept. They also have Mixed and Female dorm rooms with storage locker facility.
We had opted for private rooms and they were spacious with attached washrooms. It had nice cosy blankets. There was geyser which is a must for Manali in March. The rooms had different theme posters and quotations which gave a nice personal touch to it.
In front of the room there was a huge balcony. There were basket chairs to just sit and chill. The staff and service were very nice.
The room cost us just 1000 bucks and it was totally worth it. Also, location wise It was situated in the best place in Old Manali. A lot of cafes were also nearby. I doubt at this price you would find a better option in Manali offering all the basic facilities and such warm welcoming people.
Cleanliness and hygiene
You will feel completely at home. Apart from the room, the surrounding area was also properly maintained and clean. The staffs were very professional.
The In-house Restaurant
The food they served reminded of home. It was good, tasty and also affordable. The quantity was more than the usual restaurants.
In front of the hostel, there is a big space which has a beautiful garden. There are chairs for hanging out and spending quality time.
Apart from the basic room amenities, they have a huge common area. They have a huge TV with PS4. They sometimes organise bonfire and karaoke too. Cars for sightseeing are also arranged by them. They also have many card games, dartboard etc. You can also find travel packages on their website.
The famous lazy dog cafe is nearby. It is a must-visit in Manali. Manu Temple and Hidimba Devi Temple are also accessible easily.
I hope you find the above information useful. Plan your stay at this luxurious boutique hostel.
